Wiley was the very first class mascot for the #StewartStarsEDU. He traveled from California with Mrs. Stewart when she returned home from her hometown of Twentynine Palms, California. Wiley came from the Joshua Tree National ParkHeadquarters Gift Shop to live in Colorado. One of the park rangers helped pick him out of several other pup coyotes to make the long trip. So far, he really likes living in Parker and loves C2E. He will be helping Mrs. Stewart teach some lessons during the year. He can't wait to meet all of the new second graders, and he is looking forward to having a really good time working with them as they learn new things! Stay tuned for some wild adventures!
Jackie the Jack Rabbit
Meet Jackie...She is a jack rabbit who hails those lovely long ears for keeping cool and long hind legs for jumping! She is an active one and will win over the hearts of your children. She will be keeping Wiley company and hopefully out of trouble. Who knows what kind of adventures these two are going to get into!
Bob the Bobcat
Here is our class clown, Bob the Bobcat! He arrived from the Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters with Mrs. Stewart when she went home to visit family a few years ago. He can hardly wait to meet all of the kids. He had his very first plane ride from Palm Springs all the way to Denver. I have to say that he did quite well on the plane and behaved himself. He didn't like my backpack too much, but it was better than a cage in cargo! He is going to be a wonderful addition to our classroom. I anticipate that he will get along with Jackie and Wiley. His diet does consist of eating rabbits, but he is thinking about going vegan, so Jackie should be okay. Bob is not your typical bobcat, so it should work out for everyone. I have my fingers crossed with this newest family member :)!
Connie the Cottontail
Here is Connie! Connie is a cottontail rabbit and quite different from her cousin, Jackie! She is our newest arrival from the Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters. Mrs. Stewart adopted her on a trip home from California when she stopped to visit with the Joshua Tree National Park Rangers and tour the Oasis of Mara not far from where she grew up. (She used to take her students there for field trips when she lived in California!) Connie is very young and full of energy. She is so happy to be in Colorado and is getting to know her new second-grade friends. Her friendliness and cute personality is already a great addition to the desert critters.
Winston the Dog
Here is our newest addition to the STEAM Lab! This is our loveable Winston! He is just the life of the party and can be a handful. He is just a puppy, so there will be a lot of training and loving happening with him this year. He came from Las Vegas and has a cousin named Winston who lives with my sister and her family. We loved the name and since they are brothers, we decided to have Vegas Winston and Denver Winston. The name just fit them both. Be ready for adventures and tons of stories to be told about this cutie!
