Primary Instructional & Equity Coach

My name is Becky Demmer. I have been teaching for 27 years in the Byron School District. Most of those years I taught in second grade.

I am happy to be the Primary Instructional & Equity Coach.

I attended Winona State University for my Elementary Education degree, my Master's degree in elementary education and a reading specialist certification through St. Mary's University.

I have two children Angie and Luke. Angie is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, she majored in Elementary Education. She is an Instructional Coach at North Star Elementary in Kodiak, Alaska. She is married to Derek Hietala. Derek is in the United States Coast Guard. They have three children, Aviella, Grayson and Lyla.

Luke works for the family business. He has a daughter, Hailey and a son, Hayden.

Middle and High School Equity & Instructional Coach

I am originally from Decorah, Iowa and traveled to Mount Mercy College for undergraduate. After graduation I returned to Decorah where I taught middle school math, American History, and talented and gifted. I also coached HS speech and Drama, Mock Trial and Future Problem Solving. I continued my course work completing grad work in Talented and Gifted and Educational Administration at the University of Iowa. (Go Hawks!) In 2013, I got married to a wonderful man, Jared, and moved to Rochester. I love reading, teaching, and going for long walks. We have two children Theodore and Eleanor who are 18 months apart! They are both incredibly curious and intelligent and love to learn about what Mom is teaching her kids.

Upon beginning in Byron, I taught Elementary Technology Innovations and then moved up to the Middle School in 2015. I spend the next four years teaching 8th grade English, until stepping into the Middle and High School Instructional Coaching role in the fall of 2019.

Intermediate Instructional & Equity Coach

My name is Holly Vos. I grew up on a farm outside of Hamburg, MN. I taught for 7 years at Sibley East in Gaylord, MN before moving to Byron. This will be my eleventh year in Byron. I have taught kindergarten, second grade, and fourth grade.

I graduated with my undergraduate, masters, and K-12 administration degrees from Minnesota State University, Mankato. My husband, Tim, is a firefighter in Rochester and we have 2 daughters. Gabrielle is 12 years old and Brooke is 7.
