Local Literacy Plan
An effective district-wide comprehensive literacy program is a powerful vehicle that enables students to become successful, independent readers, writers and thinkers. To provide clarity regarding what constitutes effective literacy instruction in the Byron Public Schools, a team of teachers and administrators developed a Comprehensive Literacy Plan for our district.
The intent of this document is to provide Byron stakeholders with a description of our Comprehensive Literacy Plan (Consistent with section 122A.06 sub division 4) to ensure consistency, coherence and alignment in messages, expectations and professional development for literacy. Our goal is to provide our students with a quality E-12 Literacy and Language Arts Curriculum and ensure that all students in Byron Public Schools become strong and effective readers, writers, and thinkers by grade 3 and beyond.
