Justin Mathre
My name is Justin Mathre and I am one of the HS assistants. I have been coaching for the program since 2019. I am continuously grateful to be part of a great coaching staff and to see what the future brings for the program.
I have experience with coaching basketball, baseball, and football. I have really grown to love the game of fastpitch as my daughters started playing in 2013, after missing the excitement of coaching youth sports. I have also been a football official since 2007 in the SE Minnesota area and have officiated collegiate football for 5 years, retiring in 2023. I have also officiated HS wrestling since 2022. I previously served on the board of the Byron Youth Fastpitch Association and have coached for the summer club teams at the 12U/14U levels. During the day, I am the Controller for a Medical Certification Board in Rochester. My wife Becky and I have 2 daughters that attend Byron Public Schools. Hattie plays for the HS program and Silja is in the youth program. Both girls eat up fastpitch and wrestling. I am sure you will see them at practice or games cheering on the teams.
My hope is to be able to continue to give back to youth through sports as I am beyond my playing days. I hope to show that there are many life lessons that you can learn through participating in activities that you will take with you into your career. Teaching these young women grit, leadership, teamwork, resiliency, and developing a love of softball is my goal for the season.
