1. No Poverty
1. No Poverty
"As long as poverty, injustice, and gross inequality exist in our world, none of us can truly rest" - Nelson Mandela
The most important Sustainable Development Goal for people to achieve first is #1 No Poverty. Some people are living in horrible conditions and can't afford a better life. People lack basic needs like food and water. When we solve poverty, we can also address #3, good health and well-being. The reason we can solve goal #3 is that if people have sufficient financial resources, they can afford quality healthcare and access to medicine. According to UNICEF, “Living in poverty denies them their fundamental rights to good nutrition, health, water, sanitation, education, and shelter.” Thus, if we achieve the goal of eradicating poverty, then people won’t need to worry about not having enough food or being unable to afford education and healthcare.

I designed this map the way it is because all the symbols represent no poverty. Some symbols are no house, no money, and money symbols.
Sloane Josephart
I designed this map to show no poverty. These little symbols show no money, no home, no money, stocks drop, and that goes for all the other SDGs: no money, no healthcare. That is why SDG No Poverty is the first one we should solve.
Harper Raffel
I designed this map to show that no poverty is the most importint SDG. The symbols show no money in some places and different living situations in some other places that have money. That is why I designed my map the way I did.
Myer Turjman
I designed this map to show the SDG goal number 1, no poverty. It represents that in some places, people don't have basic needs because they can't afford them. This is why my map is so unique.

Doing this project has helped me become a more active and informed global citizen. People around the world do not have access to their most essential needs. I am lucky that I don't have to worry about that.
Adra
Doing this project helped me be an informed global citizen. Lots of people around the world are worrying about what they're gonna spend their small amounts of money on and if they can afford it. By doing this project and getting more informed, I have made a difference.
Sloane
This project has helped me to understand not to take for granted what I have. While at the same time teaching me how to be a good global citizen. People around the world have gone hungry and become sick because they couldn't afford their basic needs, so by doing this project and becoming more informed, I am making a little but still a difference.
Mit
This project taught me different types of goals we have to achieve and what we can do to achieve them as good global citizens. It also helped me identify the hardships that different people face around the world.
