My art is about the connection I feel towards my family and our traditions. Some of the traditions that we follow and created reflect our family and I wanted to honor that spirit in this piece.I used readily accessible materials in my household, such as plastic ornaments, a large amount of ribbon, and if you can  believe it, enough fake tree branches to create an entire wreath.

For the "Always Nevers" prompt in which we had to pick something we always do and something we never do, then we had to use them to create an art piece. I picked "Find inspiration" for my always and "trust the process" for the never. For me this piece had a lot of thing i have never done before and so it was kind of a challenge. I decided that it would be fun to try and sculpt a dragon out of clay onto a mug, I used sculpy and found inspiration from a similar sculpted mug I saw on the internet. I thought it turned out really well but when i went to check on the dragon in the oven while he was baking i saw he fell apart! I am proud of myself however, as i stuck to the process and just recreated him again,  and we he made it out of the oven. This peice was so much fun and i enjoyed the process a lot more than i thought i would, not to mention i learned a lot.

For as long as I can remember I have been absolutely enthralled with the unknown, the dark and the scary. I can always remember go to my grandmas house on Saturdays and staying up all night to watch ghost adventures. Despite the fascination with these topic, I haven't really been able to express this interest through my art. The prompt ¨secrets¨ gave me the opportunity to convey this  interest, my artwork conveys the question of  ¨What are some things that are best kept Secret" as the book explains that once you read it you will start to see and encounter the creatures that the book contains. Ominous questions surround the book, like who is L.Baxter?  What happened to him/her?  Where are books 1&2? All I can say about this book is that it gets a lot more interesting once you look inside.
