I can contrast assessment history with current trends and research-based practices in assessment. ~
Over the past eight years and especially the last 14 weeks I have had extensive readings and assignments pertaining to this very proficiency. I have studied current assessment philosophies and practices in schools in Vermont. I can see there are certain road blocks in contrasting assessment history, current trends and research-based practices. One of the largest road blocks and lingering question I have is; How can we spend less time on testing and more time on assessing. With the required testing, many of our educators teach to test and not to learn. I can see this being a very large obstacle in education today. Research based practiced involving assessment, have the ability to prove more learning is taking place. Research has proven that using the information you receive from an assessment needs to be used for your next day's teaching to solidify the material.
During the past 14 weeks we have learned about so many assessment possibilities. There is an assessment out there for every type of project and/or lesson.
