Superior Elementary kindergarten

Week at a glance

Math - In math this week we will be finishing our final unit! We will end the unit by exploring weight and capacity, and then doing our unit review and test.

Fundations - This week we will continue to explore digraphs (wh, ch, th, sh, ck) by identifying, reading, and spelling words that contain them. We will also be working with trick words by identifying them within a sentence and practice reading sentences with fluency.

Writing - This week we will be finishing persuasive writing! Students will encounter a variety of situations that will prompt them to consider their own opinions, and have the opportunity to state their opinion and provide at least one reason by using the sentence frame 'I think _____ because ______'.

Classes have also been working with Ms. Huffman on an animal research project - students researched an animal using PebbleGo, completed an outline, and wrote a research book.

Small Groups - Literacy rotations continue! Small groups may be focusing on books, decodables, or phonemic awareness. We have loved having our parent volunteers in the classroom during this time to support with rotations.
