Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find out what books my child has checked out and when they are due?
Go to the portal (my.bvsd.org), click on the library icon to access an account.
How many books can my child check out at a time?
Students in grades 1-8 can check out two print books from the Curiosity Center at a time and keep them for two weeks. Students can renew a book for an additional week. For the first half of the school year kindergartners can check out one book and after winter break they can have two books checked out at a time.
When can students return and check out books?
Students are able return books using the Self Check-in Station anytime during the school day. During our soft start, between 8:35 - 8:45, is a great time for students to stop by. Students are also able to use the self checkout station and check out a book on their own.
Are there fines for overdue books?
No, we do not charge fines for overdue books. Automatic overdue messages are sent out to parents as a reminder of books that need to be returned or renewed.
My child has lost his or book or the book has become damaged - what should we do?
If the book has been lost, you can let me know, but we can wait before a payment should be made. Often books "lost" at school show up some time later. If the book has been damaged, please let me know and depending on the level of damage we will decide if a replacement cost is needed. If you would like to pay for a lost or damaged book, please send a check written out to Meadowlark and have your student deliver it to the office or to Ms. Steele in the Curiosity Center so that the book can be replaced.
