I am excited to be starting my tenth year of teaching at Mesa. For the past six years, I have been teaching kindergarten. Prior to that, I taught literacy intervention at Mesa and several other schools in BVSD. I have a passion for early literacy and am also passionate about the importance of intentional play-based learning for young children. Watching young learners grow academically, socially and emotionally makes teaching very rewarding for me. I enjoy all of the energy, excitement and love that my students bring into my life.
I grew up in San Jose, CA in a large family of eight, plus many foster children that my parents cared for over the years. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Social Science from San Jose State University and then completed the Teacher Licensure Program. I earned my Master's Degree in Reading from Regis University and have a Reading Specialist Endorsement. I have also earned the National Board Teacher Certification. In my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, biking around Boulder, playing disc golf with my husband Jim and playing lots of pickleball with friends, neighbors and family. I am an avid reader and love meeting with my book club. My son, Colby, is a software developer and entrepreneur, who is currently living in San Diego. My daughter, Genevieve is in her last year of a PhD program at CU in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science.
