Meet Ms. Casey

Hi Everyone!  I am Ms. Casey.  I have worked at Mesa for 16 years!  My main role is literacy support for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade.  I have small reading groups and one-on-one student sessions each day.  We work on phonemic and phonological awareness, high frequency and learned words, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency during these classes. I also help with literacy assessments.

I grew up near Pittsburgh, PA on a nature reserve.  I spent my childhood surrounded by thick woods and creeks, with plenty to discover in both.  That started my love of exploring the outdoors. My partner, Steve, and I spend my school breaks on road trips around the US. We go dispersed camping, hiking, and kayaking along the way.

I have a big, wonderful family!  My 4 children are married, three with families of their own.  When we get together, it is a great celebration, filled with joy and lots of grandchildren activities!  Two of my children are former Mesa Mustangs!
