Here is a brief outline of how things will work this summer:
How to sign up: Summer Training registration will be done through RevTrak. The fee is $400 for individual athletes and $600 for families with more than one runner participating. I am offering a prorated $50/week for those who know they will be missing a substantial amount of time due to travel or other commitments. I do not recommend the prorated fee unless necessary; consistency in participation is the only way to ensure a healthy and successful fall.
Time/Place: We will typically meet at the north end of Fairview’s track on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 7:15 AM. After we return from the 4th of July/mid-summer break we will add in Wednesday’s. We will typically be done by 9:00 AM. Not every practice will be from Fairview, we will usually have one day a week at one of Boulder County’s fabulous running venues, like Tom Watson Park or Coal Creek Trail in Louisville, to mix things up.
What you need: You need to bring your running shoes, water bottle, and a watch to every practice! We will be fighting the heat throughout the summer, and proper hydration is critical to performance and health.
FinalSurge: We use a training platform called FinalSurge (www.finalsurge.com), and athletes can create a free profile to log their training miles and see the training plan I have laid out (which is very helpful for those traveling and want to keep up with their training). I will send out invitations to join our team page on FinalSurge in the coming weeks, and that email will be sent to the address you are receiving this email, so be sure to use the same email address when creating your account
Health and Safety: As you all know, air quality can be an issue during the summer months. If the AQI is above 90 due to wildfire smoke or Ozone pollution, practice will be automatically cancelled. For inclement weather, like lightning, I will do my best to send out an email ahead of time to relay any changes to the practice schedule.
Team Trip: I am working on a day trip to Colorado Springs as a team-building activity! Currently, the plan is for this to be on Friday, August 1st. We will go down to the springs to have practice on the State XC course before doing a team picnic with games and a catered lunch. After some downtime where the coaches will be available for individual goal setting and conversation, we will return to Boulder Friday night. I am putting this out there now so we can get an accurate head count later this summer. We will likely have two minibuses available to take 28 athletes, but if there’s even more interest than that, we will have to charter a bus, and in that case, I need a big ol’ heads up.
Pearl St. Mile: Pearl St. is much earlier this summer, June 28th, and it fits perfectly as our mid-summer time trial. I encourage everyone to sign up for the event, but hold off for now, as I will talk to the race director about a discount code for Fairview. https://www.teamboco.com/pearlstreetmile
Contact Information: If you receive this email, you are on the list. If you wish to be removed, please let me know. I will have the contact form attached if you know someone interested in joining us.
Handbook: I know there are a lot of questions, and I am happy to answer them, but I have taken a lot of time to write a handbook for your reference. This is a living document that is capable of changing but captures many of the common areas of concern or frequent questions I received, so take some time to review it and reach out if there is something I didn't cover.

Physical: As a reminder, athletic physicals are good for 1 year. While we do not need one to participate in Summer Training, it is advisable to take care of this sooner rather than later. There is a specific CHSAA form that is attached below that will need to be completed before the start of the formal cross country season once school starts.
