You are a freshman now!
A freshman is a first year high school or college student.
Each year, there will be a new classification:
9th Grade - Freshman
10th Grade - Sophomore
11th Grade - Junior
12th Grade - Senior
What are your responsibilities as a freshman?
Understand what you need to graduate from high school
Create a transcript that highlights who you are as an academic student
Learn about GPA and why it is important to your life after high school
Most importantly, EXPLORE! Explore yourself, who you want to be, what your strengths are and what you might want to do after you graduate.
You are now responsible for earning credits and completing course requirements in order to graduate from high school. There are four main components to keep in mind as you plan your path to graduation. You will have support with your graduation plan each year!
Your grade point average will start to matter this year. Each grade will factor into your GPA and will matter when it comes to life after high school.
The most important thing - EXPLORE!
High school is the perfect place to learn about you.
What are your strengths? What do you need to learn about yourself?
Make mistakes! That's right - don't be afraid to make mistakes. You will learn more from your mistakes than anything else
What do you want to do when you grow up? Don’t have a clue? That's OK! Try things on for size. Take a class that sounds interesting - ask your friends and families about what they do.
There are LOTS of opportunities to explore and BE CURIOUS :)
