Syllabus:
6th grade health is a one quarter class.
The list below are of the Units along with Lessons/Topics that are covered in 6th Grade Health. The topics are shown in the general order they are covered during the class:
Emotional & Mental Health (quality of healthy relationships, expressing feelings in healthy ways, dealing with difficult feelings, getting help for troublesome feelings, dealing with grief and loss)
Nutrition & Physical Activity (what are nutrients, assessing my eating habits, reading a food label, healthy snacking, resisting pressure to eat less healthy foods, dieting dangers & healthy ways to manage weight, stying safe while getting fit)
Tobacco, Alcohol, and other Drugs (peers and their feelings about drugs, are tobacco companies targeting youth, counter advertisements)
Violence & Injury Prevention (safety gear and me)
Abstinence, Puberty, & Personal Health (keeping my body healthy, protecting my body from disease, puberty, taking care of sexual health, feelings & relationships, resisting sexual pressure)
