Math
Math homework will be assigned daily, Monday thru Friday nights. Assignments varies by teacher. (15-20 minutes) Due the next day.
Homework Policy:
- Math homework should be extra practice of concepts we learned that day in class. Students should be able to complete their homework mostly independently using strategies we learned in class. If your child is truly giving their best effort but is unable to finish their assigned problems due to misconceptions/difficulty please have them circle the problem/s and I will try my best to provide clarification the next day. My goal is for students to view homework as an opportunity to practice independently so that they can increase their confidence and skills. It's also a great way for them to practice responsibility as they prepare for the transition to middle school.
Writing
Writing
Students should write for 40 minutes each week. Students are encouraged to write creatively using paper/pencil or typing on a computer. Some ideas for writing could be:
- Continue research on a topic we are covering in class
- Keep a daily personal journal
- Creative write
- Write a reflections about something they are reading
Reading
Reading
Students should read a book of their choice for at least 30 minutes each night. If they miss reading on a night, they should make up what they missed reading during the weekend.
