Literature and Kerala Renaissance (MDC)

Literature and Kerala Renaissance introduces students to the socio-historical backdrop of the Kerala Renaissance and the significant role played by literature in driving social change. The course offers insights into the lives and contributions of key reformers and examines pivotal events that shaped modern Kerala. Through a curated selection of creative and non-creative writings, students explore the prevalence of social evils such as casteism, dowry, and class discrimination in historical contexts. The course fosters a critical awareness of such issues, enabling students to identify their lingering presence in contemporary society.
