Dr Bhagyasree B. was awarded her PhD in English Language and Literature in 2020 under the supervision of Dr Sujarani Mathew, Professor in the Department of English at K.E. College, Mannanam, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University. Her doctoral research, titled "Performing Gender: A Butleresque Reading in Select Indian Women’s Fiction" offers a critical exploration of gender performativity through the lens of Judith Butler’s theoretical framework. By analyzing select works of contemporary Indian women writers, she interrogated the constructs of femininity and identity, shedding light on how literary narratives can both challenge and reinforce gender norms. Her study contributes meaningfully to the field of gender studies and postmodern literary criticism, especially within the Indian socio-cultural context.
