I presented a research paper titled “Digital Transformation in Social Work Education: Opportunities and Ethical Concerns” at the National Seminar on “Futuristic Higher Education Institutions” organized by the IQAC BVM Holy Cross College on March 27 and 28, 2026. The seminar brought together academicians, researchers, educators, and professionals from various disciplines to discuss the changing dimensions of higher education in the digital era. The programme served as an important academic platform for exchanging innovative ideas, research perspectives, and future-oriented educational practices that can contribute to the transformation of higher education institutions.

My paper focused on the growing influence of digital technology in the field of social work education and examined both the opportunities and ethical challenges emerging from this transformation. The presentation highlighted how digital platforms, online learning systems, virtual counselling methods, and technology-enabled communication tools are reshaping social work teaching and practice. It also discussed the benefits of digital transformation, including wider accessibility to education, flexible learning opportunities, improved communication, and enhanced professional networking for students and educators. At the same time, the paper addressed ethical concerns such as confidentiality, digital inequality, data privacy, professional boundaries, and the responsible use of technology in social work practice and education.

The paper presentation provided an opportunity to engage in meaningful academic discussions with participants and experts from different institutions. It enhanced my understanding of contemporary developments in higher education and strengthened my interest in research related to technology and social work practice. Participating in the national seminar also contributed to my professional growth by improving my research presentation skills, academic interaction, and knowledge of emerging trends in digital education. The experience was highly enriching and reaffirmed the importance of balancing technological advancement with ethical responsibility in the field of social work education.
