Parent Info

SNACKS AND WATER BOTTLES:

Students will be given an opportunity to eat snack each day.  If you wish, you may send in a FRUIT, VEGETABLE, CHEESE STICK, or YOGURT.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Students can also keep a water bottle at their seat throughout the day.  Please be sure your child’s water bottle contains only water, is labeled with his/her name, and has a squirt top to help prevent any spills.

HOMEWORK:

Your child will not be assigned a daily homework assignment.  However, it is recommended that your child practice the areas that he or she is developing, such as reading, spelling, math concepts, and math facts.  Your child could practice these areas by reading and spelling the words on the Word Grid that will be sent home with the Weekly Newsletter, practicing addition and subtraction facts, reading a book or have a book read to them, completing all or some of the remaining problems of a worksheet that is sent home.  As the year goes on, resources for further practicing math facts and reading will be shared.  There will also be several occasions throughout the year when your child will be asked to complete an assignment at home, such as the Writing Folder Project and the 100th Day Project.  Please check your child’s take home folder (red) for assignments, and we will also notify you of projects in advance as the year progresses.

BIRTHDAYS

In celebration of your child’s special day, parents are invited to read a book to the class in person or via video recording. We will send home more information about birthday celebrations a few weeks ahead of time. Please DO NOT send in candy, food, or other treats for birthday celebrations.

BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS MAY ONLY BE DISTRIBUTED AT SCHOOL IF THERE IS AN INVITATION FOR EVERY CHILD IN THE CLASS. Please consider using the family directory on Palmer PTboard to contact other families for parties or playdates.

BEHAVIOR:

Your child is expected to act in a manner that will ensure safety and consideration for the feelings of others.  If a child is having a difficult time with their behavior, we will send a note, send an email, or call the parent explaining the issue.  If a note is sent home, please sign and return it or email to let us know that you received it.  Behavior notes, emails, and phone calls will ensure that parents, students, and teachers are communicating issues in the classroom, as well as allow us to be aware of patterns that may need to be further addressed.
