WHAT'S NEW IN PRESCHOOL?

STAFF SPOTLIGHT:

Hi, my name is Mrs. Scruggs. I have worked in the Early Childhood field for over 35 years, and worked at Big Valley Christian School, in the preschool department for 17 years. The best part about working at BVCS is being able to teach God's Word to His precious little ones everyday. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my five grandchildren. A scripture from the Bible that I hold close to my heart is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

VIRTUAL GRANDPARENTS DAY:

Look for a link to our Preschool Celebration for Grandparents video next Friday @ 5, October 16th. Also, each classroom has a small gift the children have made for grandparents. Those will go home on October 15th and 16th. (Preschool hours do not change)

REMINDER:

Parents please be sure your child has an extra set of clothes. Put them in a zip-lock bag with their name on it, and keep it inside their backpack. We sometimes do some messy art work or they may have a accidental spill on their clothes at preschool. Thank You!

PRESCHOOL SENSES FAIR 2020

Take a look at a sample of the fun we had at our Senses Fair. We had a great time of learning and reviewing what our 5 senses are for and how they work. God is good!

UPCOMING EVENTS

We are going to celebrate the letter "F" on Thursday and Friday October 22nd and 23rd. We are asking you to send your child with a piece of fruit for their snack on these days. We would also like them to bring a Fall leaf to share with their class. On this day the classrooms will be filled with lots of "F" activities and FUN!

No School days on Thursday and Friday, October 29th and 30th.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Each week we'll collect past communications for you here!

MORNING HEALTH CHECK FORMS:

We are sending home "new" health check forms with your children. These forms will allow for families to take temperatures at home before coming to campus each morning. This new simplification (with Public Health's approval) will take effect starting next week and is reflected on the daily Student Health Check form.

SAVE THE DATE:

Thursday, October 29th Preschool Parent/Teacher Conferences. We will use Sign-Up Genius to schedule your in-person conference appointment. The email to sign up for your conference appointment has already been sent out, so make sure to check your emails to sign up or click the sign up button at the top of this page. Please remember to wear a face covering for Parent/Teacher conferences and keep 6 ft. distance between others.

REMINDER:

The colder weather will be upon us soon, please keep in mind that all the children have very similar coats, jackets, and sweaters. Please help us out by putting your child's name in all coats, jackets, and sweaters. This makes it much easier to get your child's belongings back to you.

FACE COVERINGS:

Community Care Licensing (our regulatory agency for Preschool) is mandating that our staff wear a face covering (more than a face shield). We are looking to purchase the masks that have a clear covering over the mouth, but they are hard to find at this time.

Stanislaus County Public Health contacted us informing us that we need to communicate important information regarding face coverings:

  • Face coverings are strongly recommended for preschool children.

  • Face coverings are mandatory for 3rd - 12th grades.

  • Face coverings are mandatory for all adults on campus, including adults dropping-off and picking-up (even when outside).

HOME PRACTICE:

This month we will start sending home our monthly home practice. Each month you will get a review handout or fun art activity for your preschooler to do at home (like homework). It is just practice/review of the curriculum we have done in class. You can bring it back and your child will receive a sticker. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY TO DO OR RETURN. It is just for fun and practice.

DAILY DEVOTIONS:

    • In our preschool classrooms we have devotions everyday at 9:00 a.m. This year we will be teaching the children the 10 commandments (kids version). This would be fun to come together as a family and learn the 10 commandments that God has given us in His word. Have fun!

SPIRIT DAYS:

  • Every Thursday and Friday are Blue and Gold Big Valley Spirit Days! Wear your school colors to show spirit (navy blue and gold). Make sure your child has plenty of water especially if they are staying with us past 3:00 p.m.

  • Don’t forget to send a snack(s). Two snacks if your child stays after 3:00 p.m.

HEALTH & SAFETY:

We are continuing to keep our facility clean and disinfected. Children and staff wash their hands or use hand sanitizer numerous times throughout the day. Tables, doorknobs, all hard surfaces and bathrooms are cleaned and disinfected at least 4-5 times during the day.
