GROWING HEARTS OF SERVICE THROUGH THE DO-A-THON:
Dear BVCS Families,
One of our favorite BVCS traditions is back — the Do-A-Thon! We often hear that people miss the Jog-A-Thon. And as fun as that was, we believe the Do-A-Thon reaches to the heart of BVCS. You see, BVCS is a ministry. It is a mission field for future Christian leaders! The Do-A-Thon is more than a fundraiser. It’s a way for our students to grow hearts of service each year while raising funds for the work of the BVCS mission which is not covered by tuition alone and depends on about $200,000 in annual fundraising efforts.
Through the Do-A-Thon, students don’t just learn about missions — they live them out by serving others and giving generously. Each class is paired with a local or global mission partner, learning firsthand how faith and generosity work together. Students raise support for the BVCS IMPACT Fund (90%) and their class mission partner (10%), teaching the biblical principle of tithing while supporting the mission and growth of our school.
This year, Preschool–6th Grade students will take part in the Do-A-Thon, while 7th–12th graders are invited to join in by supporting and encouraging their younger peers. Our secondary students will have their own opportunity to engage in service and outreach this spring...another chance to grow hearts of compassion and leadership!
This year’s goal: $100,000 for the IMPACT Fund — supporting Academics, Innovation, Staff, Athletics & Theater Arts, and Tuition Assistance.
Here’s how to join the movement:
SERVE: Every student will serve through hands-on projects across seven missions.
ASK: Invite friends and family to sponsor your student.
CELEBRATE: Watch God work through your student’s service and generosity!
Let’s make this our best year yet! It’s a time when student energy turns into servie and generosity!

FAMILY FALL SURVEY 2025
At Big Valley Christian School, our mission is to partner with families to nurture and equip students to impact the world for Christ. Your feedback helps us strengthen that partnership and ensure that BVCS continues to provide an excellent, Christ-centered education.
Please take our brief survey (found HERE). By sharing your perspective you are helping us grow together. Your results are welcomed and will be shared with our staff to help us improve.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT RESULTS:
At Big Valley Christian School, we are committed to pursuing academic excellence through a biblical worldview. While private schools in California don’t take the state’s SBAC assessment, our students participate in the MAP Growth assessment — giving us a reliable way to compare student performance with local districts.
Last spring, BVCS students in Grades 1–6 demonstrated projected proficiency rates of 69.5% in English Language Arts and 57.6% in Math — far exceeding nearby district averages. (see chart that follows) These results affirm what we see every day: dedicated teachers, engaged learners, and a community that believes faith and excellence go hand in hand.
Let’s continue to celebrate our students’ hard work and the growth happening across every grade and subject!
