Dear High School Families,
Faith, learning, and impact come together daily in High School at BVCS—and this week was no exception. Our 9th–11th grade students completed their Fall 25–26 standardized testing on Friday, October 17, participating in the PSAT 8/9, PreACT, and PSAT/NMSQT. These assessments not only strengthen test-taking skills but also help us refine curriculum and ensure our students are on track for college readiness.
We’re already seeing the results of that intentional preparation. Last year, 47% of our juniors took AP Pre-Calculus with an 88% pass rate—a remarkable achievement. This year, 24% of our seniors are enrolled in AP Calculus, including two 10th graders accelerating into the course. In total, 63% of our seniors are pursuing a fourth year of math—either AP Calculus or Statistics (22 students in Stats and 13 in AP Calc). These outcomes reflect both academic rigor and a commitment to excellence that sets BVCS apart.
The Class of 2024 demonstrated that success takes many forms—nine graduates entered the trades (including construction, cosmetology, electrical, missions, HVAC, and lineman programs), while 60% were accepted to colleges. BVCS continues to outperform state and national averages on SAT and PSAT exams, with scores in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing consistently strong and Math above both state and national benchmarks.
Finally, seeing our Alumni come back as Staff reminds us that faith and legacy are foundational to all we do. Thank you for investing in the next generation of Lions—leaders equipped to think critically, live faithfully, and serve boldly.
In His service,
Cindy Alavezos
High School Principal
