The Burnet High School Counseling Department is available Monday through Friday to support students and families as they navigate high school and prepare for life after graduation. Our counselors work with students individually, in small groups, and through campus-wide programming to support academic success, social-emotional well-being, and college, career, military, and workforce readiness.
Students may be referred to the counseling office by parents, teachers, administrators, or other staff members, and students are always welcome to stop by if they need support or have questions. Parents and guardians may contact the counseling office to schedule an appointment or phone conference. Matters involving student safety and urgent concerns are always given priority.
The Burnet High School Counseling Department is committed to ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, valued, and supported as they discover and pursue a path that aligns with their strengths, interests, and goals.
Through a comprehensive school counseling program, we partner with students, families, staff, and the community to promote academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and postsecondary success. Guided by the values of Spirit, Pride, and Honor, we strive to remove barriers, create opportunities, and empower students to be successful in whatever their next steps may be.
We believe relationships are at the heart of effective school counseling. Every student has a unique story, and our goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, seeking help, and exploring opportunities for their future.
Our counselors work collaboratively with families, teachers, administrators, and community partners to identify barriers that may impact student success and connect students with the resources and support they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Counselors work with students each year to review graduation requirements, discuss course selections, monitor academic progress, and develop plans that support each student's goals after high school.
Whether students plan to attend a university, community college, trade school, enter the workforce, or serve in the military, counselors help students explore opportunities and develop a plan for their future. Support includes college applications, financial aid and scholarship guidance, career exploration, military pathways, certifications, and postsecondary planning.
High school can be challenging, and students do not have to navigate those challenges alone. Whether students are experiencing stress, anxiety, conflict with peers, grief, family concerns, or simply need someone to talk to, counselors are available to provide support and guidance.
Student safety is always our highest priority. Counselors provide support during times of crisis and work closely with families and community partners to ensure students receive appropriate resources and interventions when needed.
Counselors provide targeted support through small groups and campus programs designed to meet the unique needs of students. Topics may include transition support, college readiness, goal setting, social-emotional skills, and postsecondary planning.
Sometimes the best support extends beyond the school building. Our counseling team works with families to connect them with community resources and services that can provide additional support when needed.
We believe families are essential partners in student success. We encourage parents and guardians to stay involved in their student's academic progress, future planning, and overall well-being throughout high school.
We also encourage students to develop self-advocacy skills by communicating with teachers, seeking support when needed, and taking an active role in planning for their future. Learning to ask questions, seek help, and advocate for themselves are important skills that will serve students well long after graduation.
At Burnet High School, these are more than just words—they represent who we are as a community. The Counseling Department is proud to support our students as they grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals who embody the values of Spirit, Pride, and Honor both inside and outside the classroom.
We look forward to partnering with you throughout your high school journey.
