HOW TO ENROLL YOUR CHILD INTO BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT

WELCOME FAMILIES!

We complete all student registrations electronically on a first come, first served basis. We appreciate your patience as you may not receive an immediate response to your enrollment request.

ELIGIBILITY:

Your child must be eligible to be enrolled into our district. The eligibility requirements are:

  • The child and their parent or legal guardian MUST live in Burlington Township. We are NOT a Choice District and cannot enroll children who do not live in Burlington Township. For more information about Choice Districts in Burlington County, please see the NJ Department of Education website.

  • The child must be 5 years old on or before October 1 of the enrolling school year to be eligible to enroll in Kindergarten. Full day kindergarten is available for all age-eligible Burlington Township residents.

  • Preschool students MUST have won a lottery spot in our Pre-K lottery for the upcoming school year. If you are enrolling to have your preschooler evaluated by the Child Study Team, please contact them before starting the enrollment process at  CST@burltwpsch.org

Our district DOES NOT provide Pre-K for every age-eligible child. Limited Pre-K spots are available through our Pre-K Lottery. Before attempting to enroll your Pre-K student, please visit our

 PRE-K Website

for more information about eligibility, enrolling for the purpose of a Child Study Team evaluation, the Pre-K lottery, and Pre-K registration.

The Pre-K Lottery for the 2025-2026 School Year is now CLOSED

Enrollment requests for ineligible Pre-K students WILL BE REJECTED.

KINDERGARTEN

If you are enrolling a Kindergarten student, please complete the New to K Assessment form, then proceed with the additional steps noted below.

STEP 1: PRE-ENROLLMENT

  • Submit a pre-enrollment request for each child you wish to enroll here: Pre-Enrollment Request Form.

      • Central Registration will only have access to your child's information once you have submitted a pre-enrollment request form for them. We cannot complete any further steps until you have submitted this form.

      • You will receive an email from our PowerSchool platform confirming your form was submitted. You do NOT need to respond to the confirmation email.

      • You will receive an email from CENTRAL REGISTRATION - registration@burltwpsch.org - with the subject line "Enrollment Request - your child's name". You MUST respond to this email and answer ALL questions. Your child's enrollment WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD until we receive your responses. If the answer to any of the questions is NO this does not mean your child cannot be enrolled. Please respond accurately and we will advise you of next steps.

      • Please allow 3-5 working days for our office to respond to your initial pre-enrollment request. We appreciate your patience as we review enrollment requests in the order they are received.

**IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES**

  •   If you do not have your name on the lease/deed/mortgage AND a current utility bill, please indicate this when you respond to the email you received from Central Registration or your child’s enrollment will be delayed. Your case will be referred to the Operations Manager to discuss eligibility for Temporary Residency.

  •   If you are NOT on the child’s birth certificate or do not have court paperwork stating you are the child’s parent or legal guardian, please indicate this when you respond to the email you received from Central Registration. Our office will provide more information about eligibility for the Guardianship Process.

  • The Temporary Residency and Guardianship processes can take several weeks to complete and require additional meetings with district representatives and notarized documents. Please start the process early in order to avoid any delays of your child starting school.

  •   If you live in Burlington Township and your child plans to attend a charter school or BCIT, they MUST be enrolled through our district first.

STEP 2: ENROLLMENT FORMS

You will receive an email from CENTRAL REGISTRATION when your pre-enrollment request has been approved.

Your child is NOT ENROLLED YET.

There are additional steps you MUST complete before your child can start school.

An enrollment guide with screenshots can be found here:  Step-by-Step Guide for Completing Enrollment Forms

  •   You will receive an email within 24 hours of your pre-enrollment being approved. It will have access codes to create your Parent Portal account on our PowerSchool platform.

o   If you do not receive access codes within 24 hours, please check your Spam folder. If you still cannot find the email, please contact our office.

  •   Create your Parent Portal account using the access codes you received in your email.

  • Once you have created the account, log in, then go to FORMS, then choose ENROLLMENT.

  •  Complete the Enrollment forms packet for each child you are enrolling. There are 10 forms to submit for each child. All 10 forms MUST be submitted before we can review and approve the forms. Your child cannot start school until all forms and required documents have been submitted, reviewed, and approved.

***Users who complete this process through the PowerSchool Parent Portal APP may need district code gzhd to proceed***

YOUR CHILD'S ENROLLMENT FORMS WILL NOT BE APPROVED UNLESS THEY CONTAIN ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION.

You will be required to upload the following documents:

1. A lease, mortgage, or deed in your name

2.   A current utility bill in your name

3.   Your child’s birth certificate or passport

4.   Your child’s immunization records Summary of NJ School Immunization Requirement

5. Your photo ID

6.   A transfer card from your child’s last school if they are coming from another NJ Public School

If you are having trouble uploading documents, you can email them to our office at Registration@burltwpsch.org . We can upload the documents into the forms for you, but you MUST still complete and submit the forms. We cannot fill out your forms. Please allow our office 3-5 working days to upload your documents if you are unable to do so yourself.

For information about Before/After Care for your child, please visit the Kidz Space website.

**IMPORTANT INFO FOR CHILDREN BORN OR EDUCATED OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES**

  • If your child was not born in the US or their most recent school was outside of the US, they may be required to have a TB test. Here is a list of countries which are exempt from TB testing. If your child is coming from ANY OTHER COUNTRY that is not on this list, they will need to have a TB test, per NJ state guidelines.

  • Please provide any records you have from your child's last school, even if they are not in English. These records help our guidance department place your child in the appropriate classes.
