CREW ROLES AVAILABLE FOR THIS PRODUCTION:

PRODUCTION COORDINATORS
Open to students who have participated in at least two previous BIS productions as crew members. Production Coordinators serve as leaders who plan, organize, and oversee the work of the crew teams.
Role requirements: Strong leadership and organizational skills; flexibility; significant rehearsal commitment.

SOUND TECHNICIAN
Organizes, creates, and adjusts the show playlist. Cues other tech team members and runs all sound cues during tech rehearsals and performances. This role requires a high number of rehearsal hours—especially in the two weeks before the show—and strong focus.
Role requirements: Leadership skills; organization; strong focus; ability to create and follow cues diligently; collaboration with tech crew members; significant rehearsal commitment.

PROP MASTERS
Organize, order, and assemble props for all characters. Communicate prop assignments to cast members and collect items after use. Maintain tidy and organized prop shelves and troubleshoot as needed.
Role requirements: Proficiency with Google Sheets and online shopping (Amazon); strong organization; creativity; diligence; collaboration with stage crew; significant rehearsal commitment.

PUBLICISTS
Design digital and video advertisements and assist with editing the show program. Capture rehearsal photos and videos for social media. During performances, help check in guests and sell concessions.
Role requirements: Proficiency with Pages/Canva; strong interpersonal skills; creativity; organization; diligence; basic photography skills; significant rehearsal commitment.

MICROPHONE TECHNICIAN
Become familiar with the script and characters. Distribute, secure, collect, and store microphones during all tech rehearsals and performances. Run mic cues for each scene and make adjustments when necessary.
Role requirements: Strong focus; organization; ability to create and follow cues carefully; collaboration with tech crew; moderate rehearsal commitment.

LIGHTING TECHNICIAN
Design and create stage lighting for each scene and run all lighting cues during tech rehearsals and performances.
Role requirements: Strong focus; ability to create and maintain cue notes; collaboration with tech crew; moderate rehearsal commitment.

STAGEHANDS
Mark scenery placements on stage and run movement cues during tech rehearsals and performances. Maintain a clean and organized backstage area. Assemble and move set pieces, and troubleshoot when needed.
Role requirements: Strong focus; ability to move set pieces safely; ability to create and maintain cue notes; collaboration with stage crew; moderate rehearsal commitment.

COSTUMERS
Organize, order, and assemble costumes and accessories. Communicate costume, hair, and makeup requirements to cast members. Distribute, collect, and store costumes during dress rehearsals and performances. Assist with hair/makeup checks, quick fixes, small alterations, and possible quick changes.
Role requirements: Proficiency with Google Sheets and online shopping (Amazon); ability to follow instructions; diligence; some cosmetic experience; collaboration with team members; moderate rehearsal commitment. Sewing skills are a plus.

SUPPORTING TECHNICIAN
Assist with house and backstage lighting, microphone distribution, and general tech needs as they arise.
Role requirements: Strong focus; ability to follow cues diligently; strong teamwork with tech crew and cast.

CREW SELECTION PROCESS

STEPS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A CREW ROLE
(Please read thoroughly.)

STEP 1: COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION & SIGNED CONTRACT
To begin the selection process for Crew, students must submit an Online Application with a guardian, agreeing to the Production Contract. Applications & Signed Contracts are DUE Wednesday, 1/21 (NO exceptions!) and can only be accessed by students with their school account (@burlingameschools.org). Online Application Link.

STEP 2: VIDEO PRESENTATION
After submitting the application, students must create and submit a Video Presentation to Ms. Ibos via Drive by Wednesday, 1/21 — no exceptions.
Choose one of the following topics:

Costume Plot Spreadsheet
Create and explain an organized spreadsheet for five characters, detailing their full outfits and including Amazon links to at least three items per character that would need to be purchased.
Master Prop List Spreadsheet
Create and explain an organized spreadsheet for ten props used in different scenes. Include Amazon links to at least five items to purchase and a list of supplies needed to create two handmade props.
Scene Design
Design one of the following: the Parlor at Cherry Tree Lane, the Nursery at Cherry Tree Lane, or Mrs. Corry’s Shop. Explain each item needed, how items will be built or purchased (include Amazon links), and how they will move on/off stage and be stored backstage alongside other set pieces.
Lighting Design
Design and explain five different lighting effects used during Scene 7 and describe the cues for when each change occurs.
Tech Cue Sheet for Microphones and Sound
Create and explain a cue sheet for Scene 7 that identifies when each character’s microphone turns on and off for entrance/exit of stage, when any sound effects or music cues occur, and any additional notes needed for adjustments.
Audience Experience Design
Design and explain the audience experience at the performance, including décor outside the auditorium doors, the lobby entrance setup, and outdoor intermission concessions. Explain how sales will be organized efficiently.

A Callback List will be posted the evening of Friday, January 23 on the BIS Performing Arts website. Only students on this list will move to the next round. Students not invited to Callbacks will no longer be considered for a role.

STEP 3: CALLBACK CREW INTERVIEWS
Students invited to Callbacks must attend the Crew Interviews on Monday, January 26 (3:30–4:30pm) in the Auditorium. Students will participate in a group task and answer individual questions from the Directors.
Please note: An invitation to Callbacks does not guarantee a role.

MPORTANT NOTES:

All applicants must be in good standing with academics, attendance, behavior, and overall school expectations. Concerns in any of these areas may prevent a student from being selected for a role.
Due to the large number of students who apply, not all students may receive a role.
