Information for Parents and Students
Transforming learning to inspire ALL students in an ever changing world
Please navigate to your student's campus name for specific information.
Safety and security for our students, staff and community remain Burkburnett ISD’s first priority, and we appreciate the continued support of our parent and family partners. BISD also recognizes that instructional continuity is extremely important for our students during this time. For that reason, we have been working with our administration and staff to develop plans for students to continue to learn remotely for an extended period of time. Every student in BISD will be contacted by one of their teachers.
For all of our students, Google Classroom will be the learning management system for classes. Each teacher has developed Google Classroom platforms to house instruction, activities, assignments, and collaboration with students. In addition, several online resources will be utilized to support independent skill building. Some of these programs and apps are familiar to students, and some may be new. Instructions for logging on and accessing these will be communicated to families as well.
Students should already be enrolled in their teacher’s Google Classroom when distance learning formally begins during the week of March 30-April 3, 2020. If they are having any trouble at all with logging in or access, please simply email the teacher for assistance. If you do not have access to Internet at home, or need a tech device, please contact your child's Campus Principal for alternative methods.
When traditional school is in session, typical classroom instruction is a mix of direct instruction, small group learning, independent practice on the lesson and independent skills practice which is often delivered through an online platform. We realize that when working independently and remotely the time allotment will vary for each student, so please understand that these are general guidelines. We also know that instruction and learning online may require much less time than a regular school day.
Teachers will have access to multiple resources to support the core curriculum and will be delivering instruction through the methods that are most suitable to their grade levels and subject areas. Assignments will continue to be graded, and students and parents should continue to communicate with teachers through email or Google Classroom. Phone or video conferencing may also be used where appropriate.
Teachers will continue to support your students and communicate with you on a regular basis. For our students who need special education supports, our teachers have been reaching out and we will continue to provide that support. Parents are always our most important partners, and we are here to support you and your student during these unusual times.
