For each subject, the goal for your child is to achieve the maximum amount of success as they are able. Each subject will have daily assignments as well as summative assessments to measure your child's progress and ensure that they are grasping the material taught. Each subject will have a minimum of 9 graded assignments per grading period.
Papers will be sent home throughout the week. Each will have either a check mark/smiley face on it, or will have a number grade.
Check or Smiley Face Papers
These were completed either in class as a group, in stations, or individually to measure understanding of a concept. These do not affect your child's average, but are used by the teacher to determine instructional needs.
Graded Papers
These papers have a numbered grade on them. They will be entered into Skyward and used to complete your child's average for the grading period. Grades will be assigned after instruction and practice opportunities have been provided on the concept, ensuring they accurately reflect your child's mastery of the standard. They will be averaged (all assignments added together and divided by the total number of assignments) to determine their final grade.
What ifs?
Your child will be expected to complete and turn their work in daily. If they are absent, we will work with them on the material to complete missed instruction and assignments.
You may check their grades on Skyward, as they will be entered weekly. If you ever have questions, please reach out to me.
Progress reports will be sent out in the middle of the grading period. Report cards will be sent at the end of the grading period. Please sign these and return them. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. I will also contact you if any concerns arise.
Working together, we will ensure that your child is successful, and this is a record year! Thank you for your support!
