To qualify for Burbank Unified School District's Induction program, interested candidates should:
Be in their first two years of teaching year of teaching
Have not completed an Induction program elsewhere
Hold a valid California preliminary or Level 1 Ed Specialist, Multiple Subject, or Single Subject credential or equivalent (SEE HR FOR INFORMATION)
Be employed with BUSD as a full-time teacher or equivalent
To enroll in Burbank Unified School District's Induction program, interested candidates should:
Reply to the "Mentor Match" email once a mentor is found for you
Calendar all mandatory meetings
Program Information
Mentor Matching: Within 30 days of enrollment, new teachers will be matched with an experienced, trained mentor teaching within an equivalent credential class, grade level, subject area, and/or site.
Regular Support: New teachers will participant in 60 minutes of one-on-one meetings with their mentors weekly; large group PLC meetings monthly; and small group PD opportunities twice a semester.
Early Completion Option (ECO) information is available for teachers with previous experience
Cost: Free to all Burbank Unified School District employees who qualify and remain in good standing
Program Participants Will Receive
Two years of ongoing support by an experienced, trained mentor .
Individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring and support to build a reflective teaching practice, based on the candidate's professional growth goal and evidence collected on the Individualized Learning Plan (ILP)
Unique Professional Development opportunities tailored for new educators
Due to the rigor and schedule of the Induction program, BUSD does not recommend or encourage teachers to concurrently enroll in Induction and a Master's program.
Out of District Participants
If space is available, teachers outside of BUSD may apply for our Induction program. Out of District participants will have access to BUSD's Induction programming but are not guaranteed a mentor. Cost of out of district programming varies between $2,500 to $3,500 a year; if the district is compensating the mentor, the cost is higher. Some districts or sites may assist with payment.
