As an integral part of its educational system, the Bulacan State University Guidance and Counseling Services Center (GCSC) - Main Campus opens its avenues through services for individuals, families, or groups who are referred and/or voluntarily seeking guidance and counseling and all other programs it is catering. To function effectively in his/her environment, each individual must make intelligent decisions and adjustments to the different aspects of his/her personal life and his/her community. These abilities, however, are not innate; rather, they have to be developed gradually over time. Because this is a fact, education provides numerous opportunities and learning experiences for the student's development of such abilities.

Hence, the GCSC of the University is one of the most important sources of such opportunities and experiences. This office recognizes each individual’s democratic right to make choices of his/her own, although it also does so. This aims to consistently adhere to its primary purpose of assisting individuals in his/her decision-making in such a way as to promote the gradual development and the ability to make the right choices in life independently, without being unduly influenced by others. Furthermore, its principle adheres to integrating the student’s knowledge of himself, his strengths and weaknesses, aptitudes, talents, interests, potentials, and others to further enhance their roles in his personal life and environments wherein he/she interacts.

Thus, the GCSC helps bring into focus the needs and problems of students, anticipates, and uses this information to develop a curriculum in the formulation of school policies and regulations in its academic contribution and mandate.
