In collaboration with the Bulacan State University Association of Peer Facilitators and Advocates of Mental Health (BulSU A-PFAM), the primary student arm of the Guidance and Counseling Services Center (GCSC) - Main Campus, as full recognition and pioneering reception to all of its officers and members, the GCSC - Main Campus launched this project entitled: Pagsibol 2024: First Organizational General Assembly and Training Course for Peer Facilitators.
The officers and members were given the full opportunity to facilitate this activity, with supervision from the GCSC - Main Campus. This was divided into two (2) days: the first of it was held on April 11, 2024, featuring the General Assembly of BulSU A-PFAM.
The background of the organization was discussed by Mr. Raymond F. Esteban as the Co-Adviser of BulSU A-PFAM and lead facilitator of the GCSC - Main Campus assigned to conceptualize the formation of the organization, from telling the roots where the officers of the BulSU A-PFAM First Executive Board came from, the laying out of all the documents needed and other requirements for its foundation, up to the successful application for recognition to the Office of the Student Organizations and Activities - Main Campus, and the eventual execution of its pioneering projects for the BulSU community. The promotional video of the GCSC - Main Campus was also played for the officers and especially the members, grasp the six (6) major services offered by the office, where the plans of action of BulSU A-PFAM can be anchored.
The officers of BulSU A-PFAM, led by President Queenie E. Fernandez, together with Vice President Ezae DG. Veluz, Secretary Niña Angelica B. Baluyot, Treasurer Francheska C. Sayo, and Auditor Annjelyn D. Lejano, all students from the BS Psychology program of the University, facilitated the thorough tackling of the BulSU A-PFAM Constitution and By-Laws. The program does not fell short of excitement, as numerous games were facilitated by the officers, which the members enjoyed, coupled with prizes from the GCSC - Main Campus.
The second day of the activity was conducted on April 12, 2024, featuring the Training Course for Peer Facilitators of the officers and members of BulSU A-PFAM. Dr. Susana C. Velasco, LPT, RGC, a Professor IV of the College of Education and the Graduate School, and the Former Head of the Guidance and Counseling Services Center, acted as the resource speaker for the said training course. The program was divided into two (2) parts: a morning session, where Dr. Velasco discussed the Effective Skills for Peer Coaching and the Roles of a Peer Facilitator; the afternoon session, revolved around Counseling Strategies of Diverse Population. Once again, games were enjoyed both of the officers and members as everyone had the chance to win the generous rewards to be given. After the two-part lectures, a brief group workshop was facilitated by Dr. Velasco, featuring a life-sharing activity among all the officers and members of the organization.
Highlighting the totality of the two-day activity was the Oath Taking of the Officers and Members of BulSU A-PFAM, where they swore their binding and faithfulness to the Constitution and By-Laws, and towards the whole organization. Leading to the end of the program, an introductory ceremony to the officers and advisers of BulSU A-PFAM was conducted, as well with all the staff of GCSC - Main Campus.
