Lesson 1: Introducing The Feelings Exercise Group
Optional Homework: Feelings Journal Activity
Think of our breathing exercise today. Did you notice your mind settling? Was it easy or hard to keep your mind on your breathing?
Ask students to draw a picture of their face when they are taking deep breaths.
Lesson 2: Understanding Your Feelings Part 1
Optional Homework: Feelings Journal Activity
Choose one of the feelings discussed in the lesson to highlight (maybe worried, angry, or scared). Ask the children to think of a time when they had that feeling, what it looked like on their faces and what it felt like inside their bodies.
Ask the students to draw a detailed face showing that emotion and to write a sentence or two describing what they think that emotion feels like inside their body.
Lesson 3: Understanding Your Feelings Part 2
Optional Homework: Feelings Journal Activity
Prompt: Yesterday, Sid was playing soccer with his friend Lucas at recess. Lucas went to get the ball from Sid and he accidentally bumped into Sid and Sid fell down. He wasn't hurt, but he felt angry at Lucas. Lucas said sorry, but Sid stuck out his tongue and told Lucas that he never wanted to play with him again and stomped away.
Have students write a sentence or two about ways in which Sid could have expressed his feelings in an okay way. Also have students draw a detailed picture of the new situation.
