Breaking News

Breaking News Coverage is at the heart of journalism. My experience with thorough fact-checking, editing and publishing as Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Free Press has translated to time-efficient, accurate, fair, clear and succinct breaking news coverage, completed for a variety of different news agencies.

Experience reporting, photographing, live tweeting and editing breaking news, at all hours of the day and night.

As features editor of The Daily Free Press -- my position before Editor-in-Chief -- Boston University was facing a key moment of student activism: holding the University accountable to sexual assault on campus, and to protecting survivors. Student activists wrote open letters, made instagram pages, and organized protests.

I personally covered these developments as longer breaking news stories with a narrative angle in the hopes that it would help students and faculty fully understand the movement and the University's response -- writing on deadline after editing often into the early morning hours, conducting thorough, trauma-informed interviews with survivors, activists, BU officials and protest organizers, and working with my editors to get it just right.

As Editor-in-Chief, breaking news reporting was my responsibility -- an all hands on deck, who-can-be-there-first, feat. In many instances, I would coordinate with the managing editor, city or campus editor and writer from the scene, co-currently live stream updates on the paper's Twitter when the breaking news was campus specific, and collaorate with editors to get a story up within hours.
