About

The Boston University Dance Team is dedicated to the art of dance and the promotion of school spirit. Each team member is unique – we have different academic interests, come from different places, and have different dance training – but we all have one thing in common: our love of dance and commitment to our team.

The BU Dance Team was founded in 1991 as a club sport under the Department of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. In 2009, the team officially became a part of the Department of Athletics under the banner of the BU Spirit Squads along with the BU Cheer Team and Pep Band. The team performs at men’s and women’s basketball games, on-campus events, community service events, and local dance showcases, and competitions. The team competes in the Division I category at the NDA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, FL. The team has finished in the Top Ten since 2013 and won National Titles in 2014 (Hip Hop) and 2016 (Team Performance).
