Incoming Freshman

Households with Incoming Freshman

Households with incoming Freshman who received Free or Reduced Meals at their previous school MUST fill out a new application for the 24-25 school year. District 201 does not have access to your previous school district's meal status program.

EXCEPTION: If you have a letter from the State of Illinois that shows your Freshman student has been Directly Certified for free meals for the 24-25 school year, please bring it with you when you attend Registration/Book Pick-Up or you will be asked to fill out a new application.

School meal service for incoming Freshman

This is an informational letter intended to bring awareness of our school cafeteria procedures for incoming freshman students. Below is a general description of our meal service procedures and payment information.

School Meals

Breakfast: There is only one service lane open during breakfast. Students enter the service lane and choose what they want  and circulate through to the cashier.

Lunch: While in the cafeteria, students enter the serving area and choose which serving line they would like.

Salads

Grill (Cheeseburgers, Chicken Sandwiches etc)

Pizza

Nacho Bar

Entrée (A monthly menu is posted on the school website and within the cafeteria)

After obtaining their food, students move to one of the 4 cashier lines.  At the cashier station students are to swipe their ID or input their ID number.  The cashier collects the money or applies appropriate charges.  If students owe money for meal charges, the cashier will inform the student of their amount due before the student leaves the cashier station.

Snack Bar:

The Snack Bar window is located on the North side of the cafeteria.

Students can purchase snacks and drinks from the Snack Bar only if they do not owe any meal charges on their account.

Ways to avoid a negative balance:

-If applicable, students are reminded daily of their negative meal balance when they are at the cashier station. Remind your student to communicate with you, any negative balance they may have.

-Parents can contact the appropriate Food Service Director at your student's school to check account balance.

-The best way to check an account balance is to set up an online account with myschoolbucks (www.myschoolbucks.com). This is an online meal service payment program that our district utilizes.   Parents can set up an account and you can prepay for meals, receive notices of a low balance, pay on negative balances, and monitor account transactions daily.

-We are currently discussing changes to improve communication with parents who do not set up an account with myschoolbucks.

(Please keep in mind that meal charges must be cleared by your student’s graduation.)

Payment (Cash or Check):

-Students can make payments or put money in their account at the cafeteria cashier stations during their lunch period.

-Parents can contact the appropriate Food Service Director, to also arrange for payments.

If you think you may qualify for Free or Reduced meals you can find information on our school website or you can contact Mr. Daniel.
