You will now begin the process of creating a group performance. Click on the Assessment Task to view the instructions. This will be explained further in class.
Choose your groups and create a brainstorm for EACH of the topics: Fear, Truth AND Regret. This is to allow you time to examine each topic and discover which one is going to work best for everyone in your group. Remember to include all work you do on the assessment task in your digital logbook.
After constructing the brainstorms and discussing ideas associated with each topic, your group may now decide on the topic that you are going to run with. As an important part of any performance, you must conduct some research to help support the development of your piece and to help create connections with the audience. Your group will need to come up with 5 questions that will drive your research. These questions might look something like the following examples:
What is the difference between being fearful of something and having a 'phobia'?
What are some of the most common situations in which people lie?
What are some times in my life where I have regretting doing something?
Each member of you group will then conduct research for homework that helps 'answer' the questions you have posed, as well as any other general research to support the topic. Remember that this should all be added to your digital logbook.
Each member will then have time in the next lesson to present their findings to the rest of the group.
Your group will now need to put a script together. Remember that the assessment task is assessing how well you utilise the non-linear playbuilding structure so make sure that you include at least one flash back or flash forward. Take note that it is still a narrative style of performance so you must consider how your orientation, complication and resolution will be explored in the performance. Also remember to enhance the audience engagement through the effective use of the elements of drama. All conventions of scriptwriting learnt last term must be adhered to in your script.
Once you have completed your script it is rehearsal time. You will be allocated some periods in class to complete rehearsals of your piece. These rehearsals should include a combined costume and technical run so make sure that during this rehearsal period your group has decided on your sets and costumes and has put together a lighting plot (using the Lighting Plot Google Doc on the left). Below is an example of how to fill out the Lighting Plot.
Remember to ensure that you have included as much of the playbuilding process such as brainstorming, rehearsals, set, costume, lighting and sound choices, script drafts and research in your digital logbook.
