As part of the International Youth Day celebration, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), through the National Soil and Water Resources Research and Development Center for Hillyland Pedo-Ecological Zone (NSWRRDC HILLPEZ), in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Cuyambay, conducted the “Sustainable Hillyland Farming Technologies and Practices for Soil and Water Conservation and Management (SHiFT for SWaC Agriculture) 2025: Batch 2” on August 8, 2025.
Held at the NSWRRDC HILLPEZ Conference Room in Tanay, Rizal, the activity gathered 29 youth participants from Cuyambay National High School, Rizal Sports Academy, and the University of Rizal System–Tanay Campus. The training aimed to instill the importance of proper soil and water conservation in hillyland agricultural areas.
The program featured lectures, hands-on activities, and interactive discussions designed to deepen the participants’ knowledge of soil health and conservation practices.
According to Tanay SK Federation President and Cuyambay SK Chairman, Ms. Keith Dallen Juco, the active participation of youth in environmental and agricultural initiatives is vital to preserving natural resources for future generations.
This successful collaboration highlights the importance of strong partnerships between government agencies and the youth in advancing sustainable land management in hillyland communities.
