The National Soil and Water Resources Research and Development Center for Hillyland Pedo-ecological Zone officially launched its capacity-building program “Sustainable Hillyland Farming Technologies and Practices for Soil and Water Conservation and Management in Agriculture” or simply SHiFT for SWac Agriculture in line with the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration this 26 March 2024 held at NSWRRDC HILLPEZ Conference Room, Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal.

The activity was participated by the twenty active women of Barangay Sampaloc, and Barangay Cuyambay of the municipality of Tanay, province of Rizal. With its topic “Vermicomposting Technology sa Pamamaraan ng NSWRRDC HILLPEZ”, the participants with minimal to zero knowledge of the said technology have gained useful tips and information on how to start vermicomposting in their homes.

Science Research Specialist I Marco T. Macopia served as the resource person for the training, with Engr. Wilfredo A. Gultiano assisted during the hands-on activity.

The training aimed to empower the women of the hillyland farming community as the Center sees them as important partners in its soil and water conservation and management endeavors.
