RATIONALE
According to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 15 Series of 2019, the “landscapes and perspectives in offering graduate programs have dramatically changed in the past decades”. This CMO also envisions providing students the necessary competence to thrive in the face of globalization, regional integration, internalization of higher education, and the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In the Philippine setting, there seems to be an immediate cause to re-evaluate the graduate programs due to the full implementation of the K to 12 program in the basic education. There is a need to instigate reforms in the higher education which is not only limited in the tertiary level but also in the graduate level.
At Benguet State University, the latest enhancement and/or revisions of the MA Social Studies program were approved way back in 2013. This proposed enhancement is timely (if not overdue), appropriate, and beneficial to strengthen and heed the call of the new challenge offered by this ever-changing world.
