This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
All training and assessments will be organised through the BSSC Outdoor Education Coordinator. Students will be enrolled in a half day compulsory course held onsite at BSSC in a simulated environment.
Specifically students will demonstrate their competency in the following performance criteria:
Responding to an emergency situation
Applying appropriate first aid procedures
Communicating details of the incident
Students who have successfully demonstrated their competency in meeting the performance criteria will be eligible for the certificate 'Provide Basic Emergency Life Support.'
