The PAC Board is a team of parent volunteers who work together to support Hawthorne students, staff, and our school community. Board members bring different perspectives, skills, and experiences, but share a commitment to working collaboratively and supporting the PAC mission.
We look for Board members who:
Put students and staff at the center — Keep the needs of Hawthorne students and the expertise of our educators at the heart of PAC decisions.
Communicate with respect and curiosity — Listen to different perspectives, disagree thoughtfully, and treat fellow volunteers, families, and staff with kindness and respect.
Build trust and work collaboratively — Address concerns directly and constructively, assume positive intent, and work in partnership with Hawthorne staff and administration.
Support the team — Participate in thoughtful discussion and healthy debate, then support Board decisions once they are made.
Respect confidentiality — Handle sensitive information, personnel matters, and unfinished plans with appropriate discretion.
Help create a welcoming volunteer culture — Encourage participation, appreciate the contributions of others, and help make the PAC a place where every parent and caregiver feels welcome.
Represent the PAC thoughtfully — Communicate and conduct themselves in a way that builds trust and reflects positively on Hawthorne and our broader school community.
Commit to a two-year term — Board members are expected to make a minimum two-year commitment to their position.
Board positions are filled as openings arise. When a position becomes available, we announce the opening to the Hawthorne community and invite interested parents and caregivers to submit a statement of interest.
Our goal is to build a Board with a variety of perspectives, skills, and experiences while finding people who are committed to the PAC mission and the collaborative culture we strive to create.
