Very First Spanish III project of the year. This slideshow introduces me through the use of Spanish that I knew from Spanish I and II. This project, as well as the first few weeks of this course, were a review of old material which really helped solidify previous knowledge from Spanish I and II. We also used this project to get to know other group members and we took notes on other presentations to practice comprehension and writing.
After learning about el dia de los muertos and traditions + significant objects that go along with this holiday we created a presentation to demonstrate our learning. This presentation followed the life of a famous individual and highlighted significant points in their life. This project was also an introduction to the imperfect tense and allowed me to practice this new skill and demonstrate my understanding of it. I really enjoy the dia de los muertos unit because this holiday is so important in Mexican culture. During this unit we also got to watch Coco with is a movie that I will always enjoy and it is very useful to review the various traditions of this holiday.
Toward the end of the first semester, we studied how to describe repeated actions in the past. We went in-depth into the imperfect tense and learned when it is appropriate to use it and when it is better to use the preterite. After this presentation, we demonstrated our knowledge through an oral test, vocab test, and multiple reading comprehension tests. This was a great activity to prepare me for our upcoming exams as it allowed us to review how to talk about actions in the past.
To practice the imperfect we did a group presentation and reconstructed a common nursery rime. This presentation followed the general story of Mary the Little Lamb but we incorporated repeated past-tense actions, descriptions, emotions, and times into our story. We practiced this new skill in a group setting so that we could collaborate and learn/review together. This presentation also served as a practice for our preterite vs. imperfect exam. This project was fun for us as we got to be creative with our writing which we had not practiced as much before.
This was our final big project of the year and I was the most proud of this project!
