Hello Springhill families,
We hope you all had a restful and much-needed break! October is wrapping up fast, and before we blink, winter break will be here. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our Eagles learning and leading every day.
We have so much to be proud of this month!
🏆 We are thrilled to announce that Springhill Elementary has been awarded the Leader in Me Lighthouse Honor Roll for Exemplary Academic Proficiency or Exemplary Academic Growth! This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, staff, and families who continue to live out the 8 Habits and lead with purpose every day.
💬 Parent/Teacher Conferences were a great success! It was wonderful to see so many families engaging in meaningful conversations about learning goals, progress, and celebrations. We truly appreciate your partnership and commitment to your child’s success.
Our students and teachers continue to show strong growth and great character.
Leadership roles are in full swing—thank you for encouraging your child to own their job and WIGs (Wildly Important Goals).
📚 Academics at a Glance - How you can help at home:
Literacy - Try 10 minutes of reading together or just listening to your child read.
Math - Play a math game with them to strengthen their skills with counting to 100, recognizing fact families, or multiplication facts.

With gratitude,

Dear Springhill Families, September 21, 2025
We are so proud to share that Springhill Elementary has earned a state letter grade of “B”! This accomplishment reflects the incredible hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff. Together, we’ve focused on growth and achievement, and it is exciting to see those efforts recognized.
While we are proud of the progress we’ve made, we also know our journey isn’t over. We believe in setting high expectations for ourselves and our students. That’s why we have set our building goal to earn an “A” rating. With continued commitment, strong partnerships with our families, and a relentless focus on learning, we know this goal is within reach.
Thank you for supporting Springhill Elementary and for trusting us with your children each day. Together, we are shaping leaders and learners who will soar to new heights!
With Eagle Pride,
Mrs. Tazelaar
Dear Springhill Families, September 1, 2025
It has been a wonderful first full week at SPES! Our students have done an excellent job learning routines and procedures, and we are off to a great start.
As you know , in accordance with the LEARNS Act, we will begin state screeners for all K-3 students. These literacy and math screeners must be given within the first thirty days of school. We have completed both 2nd and 3rd grade screeners, and will complete kindergarten and 1st grade this upcoming week. There is no preparation required at home—just ensure your child is at school, ready to listen, and encouraged to give their best effort.
I enjoyed visiting all of the different classrooms this week! I saw students working in groups building sentences, playing math games, learning their colors, and enjoying their new grade level readers. Our teachers are doing an amazing job training up our students for another great year of learning. Check out the pictures of our Eagles.
A big shout-out to all of our parents for your continued patience and understanding as we’ve worked through changes with student drop-off and pick-up. After a couple of weeks of using our current procedures, we feel confident moving forward with calling students from the building directly into their cars. This system helps keep our students safe and supervised until it’s their turn to load.
We do ask for your help with our Little Eagles: if you notice your child has flown past your spot, please honk your horn or wave us down so we can quickly get them to you. Your support makes the process smoother and ensures all students are safely matched with their rides.
So excited to see how far our Eagles will fly,

We are so excited to have our students back in the building whether they are returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our school family. The energy, smiles, and laughter filling our halls remind us why we love what we do. This year, our focus is clear—helping every child learn at high levels while rediscovering the joy of learning, reading, and school.
Our teachers have worked hard to create welcoming, engaging classrooms where students can grow both academically and as leaders. We’re excited to see them shine as they practice the 8 Habits and take on new challenges.
We are grateful for your continued partnership in making Springhill a place where students feel safe, supported, and inspired. Together, we can make this school year the best one yet! Thank you for trusting us with your child’s education—we’re honored to be part of their journey. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
