WELCOME BACK BMS STUDENTS AND FAMILIES! The school year is underway and our staff and students have gotten off to a smooth start. It almost feels like we never left. Our 7th/8th graders are moving around the building like veterans and the 6th graders are picking up quickly on the who's, what's, where's, and how's of their day. The 2024-25 school year has a feeling of excitement and anticipation as we all get settled into the new/old routine of the school day and week. I hope all our families are as excited as we are!
I recently did our first "Lunch and Learn" message of the school year. I shared a message on "You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with" to our students. The point is that each student has a chance to be someone that lifts up the group around them when it is needed, but also that when they need the help it is best to surround yourself with people that will make you feel better and encourage you to do and be your best.
If you look below in the Announcements and News of Interest section you will see some important dates and events that are coming up soon at BMS.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me or any staff at BMS. We are happy to help in any way we can.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO EVERY DAY AND ALL YEAR TO MAKE THIS A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR FOR THE 6-8 STAFF!
With the start of school comes the start or continuation of student involvement in activities in and out of the building and school day. On Friday August 23 we took Grades 6-8 to the turf at Golden Bear Stadium and recognized all our students who are participating in some kind of activity.
Whether it is a school-sponsored sport, a musical group, theater, or any one of the many activities that take place outside our walls, we wanted to recognize and encourage our students to do something! It is no secret that students who are involved in activities have a leg up in teamwork, time management, personal responsibility, and many other qualities future schools/employers are looking for.
If you would like information on any activities that your student(s) could be involved in, contact the BMS office for ways to get in touch with the right folks.
The 8th graders have had the initial, informational meeting about the 2025 Chicago class trip. The trip will occur on May 8 and 9, 2025.
8th graders were told that they are expected to work at least one athletic event at the concessions stand to earn money off their overall cost for the 2025 trip.
Any and all 6th-8th students without a D or F on their grades received an award of candy and time outside during AA this past Friday. This will continue every month, once a month.
