The beginning of a new school year in any elementary school is an exciting time. The first few days of school each year have always been some of my favorite and this year didn't disappoint. As I walked the halls, visited classrooms and joined in for some recess fun on those first days, my own heart was full seeing the halls of BE again be filled with YOUR amazing children.
To kick off the school year with the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes we met and reviewed what it means to be respectful, responsible and safe, which are our building wide PBIS expectations. Building on those qualities, I also shared with them about the power of YET and just how important goals are to our individual success and growth. I am definitely looking forward to the 2024-25 school year and getting to be a part of your child's success! The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will GROW through the power of YET
The “power of yet” is the main concept in the growth mindset philosophy. Instead of saying, “I can't do this,” students with a growth mindset say, “I can't do this yet.” The addition of the word “yet” transforms limitations into opportunities and helps us remember that progress is ALSO a reason to celebrate!

3rd, 4th and 5th grade students were challenged to set smaller goals on the way to their BIG goals. As students and staff set and achieve goals of any size, a leaf with their name will be added to the tree. Over the course of the school year we will watch the tree grow through the POWER OF YET!
