As we enter the turn into the 2nd half of the school year, it is necessary to shout out a couple reminders.
A.M. DROP OFF: If you happen to drop a student off at our entrance any time after 8:00am, YOU MUST GET OUT AND BRING THEM INTO THE OFFICE TO SIGN THEM IN. We have recently had a large influx in the number of students being dropped off and then no one being with them to sign them in tardy. The doors are locked after 8:00am and it is possible that there will not be someone to see them needing let inside. We just cannot take a chance of a child being left outside unattended anytime but of course with the temperatures the way they are right now. Please parents be mindful of this. If you no longer see our morning staff out on the curb, you should plan to park on the curb and walk in with your child to be safe. This is for the safety and well being of your child.
ATTENDANCE: Please remember that if your student is out for an appointment, you only have 5 days from the date of the appointment to turn in the note from the appointment to excuse the absence. We are not able per policy to take that note after the 5 days, even if you provide it at a later date. It will be marked unexcused at that time. We have taken several calls lately wondering why there is unexcused time marked so hopefully this will help clarify for many wondering.
The State of Ohio recently passed a new State Law that dictates the age eligibility requirement to enroll in Kindergarten.
The State of Ohio recently passed HB114, requiring that children must be 5 years old by the first day of their district's school year to enroll in kindergarten. This new law goes into effect for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
The first day of school at Bryan City Schools for the 2026-27 school year is Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Kindergarten enrollment at BCS opens on March 2, 2026. More information for enrollment processes will be communicated with all families as we approach that date.
These changes are State Law, and were set by the State of Ohio. With that, we appreciate your understanding and partnership as we plan for these changes and remain compliant to state law.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Bryan City Schools at 419-636-6973.
The 1st grade just finished their Bowling Unit last month. The students learned how to roll a ball properly, which fingers to use for the bowling balls, and how to keep score. They competed in a week-long tournament where they had to demonstrate those skills. Medals were awarded to the highest Boy and Girl scorers in the 1st grades. Sydney Nau was the high scoring girl in her grade, and Sebastian DeWulf was the leading boy scorer. Congratulations to them both!
Spring is in the air! The spring season tends to pack in all sorts of special events, concerts, park days, field days, concerts and of course in 3rd grade and beyond - State Testing! Students have been working hard all year to develop themselves in a variety of areas. From the academic classrooms, to their musical and fine art skills and to collaboration, team building and physical fitness growth has been the mind set here at BE and I couldn't be more proud of our students and staff. Keep checking parent square and those take home folders for classroom communication, as there are so many exciting things on the horizon. Once we return from spring break the calendar is packed with opportunities for students to showcase accomplishments and have some fun. Hopefully our paths will cross at one of the upcoming special events and I look forward to celebrating our amazing students and their continued successes.
