Hello families and friends of BMS! We are well into February and March is right around the corner. We have already passed the 3rd quarter midterm and can see the end of the quarter coming soon, Friday, March 14. If you have not been talking to your student or checking on their grades, please do so. You can access their grades via the Parent Portal any time you need and if you have questions or concerns, please contact the teachers or us in the office at any time. If your student in a track athlete in the 7th or 8th grade they will need to be eligible for the season that starts very soon.
Unfortunately, our 2nd and final Junior High dance was canceled when school was canceled on Thursday, February 13. I am sure there were hundreds of disappointed 7th and 8th graders, but Mother Nature won that day and continues to bring a bit of an icy punch to BCS as the month moves on. I appreciate your patience with the disjointed schedule due to the weather. Let's collectively think warm thoughts and get into spring as soon as possible!
We were able to reschedule and pull off the 6th grade ELA project of interviewing Seniors in our building. This has become a very good project for our 6th grade class (and Seniors) and you can read more about that below.
If you look below in the Announcements and News of Interest section you will see some important dates and events that are coming up soon at BMS.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me or any staff at BMS. We are happy to help in any way we can.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO EVERY DAY AND ALL YEAR TO MAKE THIS A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR FOR THE 6-8 STAFF!

Our 6th grade students recently had the opportunity to interview our high school seniors about their experiences, challenges, and future plans. These conversations gave them valuable insight into setting goals, staying motivated, and preparing for the years ahead. Seniors reflected on their journey from middle school to now, sharing advice on staying organized, working hard, and making the most of their time in school. They also discussed their college and career aspirations, inspiring our 6th graders to start thinking about their own futures.
During the interviews, seniors answered questions such as, Thinking back to 6th grade, are you where you thought you would be? Who has influenced your life the most? What advice would you give your younger self? What’s been your biggest accomplishment or failure, and what did you learn from it? They also shared their experiences with extracurricular activities, strategies for handling stress and setbacks, and their future plans beyond high school.
This experience helped bridge the gap between our youngest and oldest students, fostering mentorship and excitement for the journey ahead. It was a meaningful opportunity for our 6th graders to gain real-world advice from those who have successfully navigated school, leaving them inspired and better prepared for the future.
