While reading chapter 4, complete the accompanying SW handouts and the character analysis handout.
Review these key events in the chapter and answer the questions in your notes.
We are introduced to Mr Pilkington and Mr Frederick. This is in line with the allegorical links to Russian history.
>> Trotsky tried to establish communism as an international movement - what is ironic about his trying to make deals with humans?
>> What are the differences in leadership style between Napoleon and Snowball? Can you link these to leaders in society today?
>> Don’t distinguished prizes go against the principles of communism? And what about the fact that it was self-appointed?
Level up CHALLENGE: Character Analysis
Working with your partner, divide the workload and research the main characters (NAMED characters that we see a lot). Write down your notes on a Google Doc of your making.
>> All students MUST have their novels open, finding at least two quotations for each character you research.
>> When each person is finished with comprehensive notes, present the information to your partner and discuss the significance and symbolism behind each character.
