Research Discoveries

My thesis states, "Although numerous critics dismiss solar as a viable resource, the technological, economical, and societal advantages offered by solar energy outweigh the disadvantages in the respective areas." The oversimplified discoveries from my research are outlined below.

Technological

Efficiency of solar energy does not match that of coal or natural gas now, though vast improvement has been made in this regard. Furthermore, the growing field of solar has many innovative designs and technologies for energy collection in development and testing.

Economical

While coal, oil, and natural gas are cheap to purchase and burn, they release excessive pollutants into the air. Solar energy is not an emissive method but does cost more, though technological advancement in the field has yielded a steep downward trend in prices since conception.

Societal

The inequalities in energy access in many parts of the world in addition to international cooperative plans to improve access to sustainable energy access to remote and impoverished areas provide adequate support for solar energy to become widely utilized.
