Observation Journals:

• Test  1

  • Initial test, planted plants and bottom watered.

• Test 2

  • All Mutant plants germinated and were thinned. Light green bundles of leaves. None of the wild type plants germinated so new seeds were planted.

• Test 3

  •  Wild Type plants not yet germinated. Mutant plants flourishing. Mutant Control plant 1 experienced incredible rosette diameter growth. Leaves on Mutant controls turned darker green.

• Test 4

  • First Bolts appeared out of Mutant plants. Mutant Control plants 3, 5, 7, and 8 turned red. Wild Type plants not yet germinated.

• Test 5

  • Bolt Growth increased in both Mutant Control and Mutant Experimental. Wild type plants germinated and released some small light green leaves.

• Test 6

  • All Mutant plants are reddish or yellow in color and wilting/shriveling around the rosette. Some leaves have turned yellow and died. Mutant bolts and siliques are still green. Wild type plants are still green and fresh looking. Wild type experimental plant 1 bolted.

• Test 7

  • Red is spreading up the bolts on the Mutant Experimental plants. Wild type plants look the same but are still growing. All other living Wild type plants bolted.

• Test 8

  • All Mutant plant growth has stopped, most plants are dead and wilting. Red has spread all the way up the bolts on all Mutant experimental plants. All Mutant Control rosettes have turned yellow, although their bolts have stayed green. Wild types are turning red with some yellow color by the highest tip of the bolt and rosettes.

• Test 9

  • Plant 1 in the Mutant Control group experienced exceptional growth throughout its lifetime. It grew to 28.41 cm in height. Wild type plants turned yellow and wilted. Mutant control plants are yellow.
