WHEN & WHERE
I performed my internship hours mainly at the Taylor Education Administration Center, but also went to elementary schools around the county. These included Orange Elementary, Unionville Elementary, and Lightfoot Elementary Schools.
MENTOR
This is a photo of Mrs. Reynolds after taking notes at one of our meetings in her office.
For my BRVGS Senior Internship, I worked with Corie Reynolds, an Orange County Public Schools Psychologist, at the Taylor Administration Education Center in Orange. I have worked with Mrs. Reynolds for around 15 hours throughout the months of August to December (see Internship Time Logs). Although my official initial contact was through email, we had previously discussed internship opportunities when I saw her at my summer job in August. I helped her around the office and learned a lot about my topics, which I further explain under experiences.
EXPERIENCES
This is a photo of Mrs. Reynolds and I at one of our internship meetings.
While working with Mrs. Reynolds, I learned a lot about how different social and emotional connections can change relationships with peers and adults. I watched documentaries regarding my topic along with public meetings ranging from student behavior to school shooters. I have learned about the warning signs and have even learned a bit about how to help someone in need- which is the focal point of my project.
Other than educating myself, I helped around the offices by gathering supplies, filing, and traveled with her to other schools in the county to help and watch student observations that she is required to conduct. I also participated in practice tests to help gauge the effectiveness of the tests.
This is a photo where I was helping Mrs. Reynolds organize testing booklets in her office.
INITIAL CONTACT
This photo shows the first meeting between Mrs. Reynolds and I being confirmed.
